Each year the cities throughout Texas honor their “Five Outstanding Young…” and those awardees become eligible to be named as one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans. Founded in 1927, this annual award was originally called the Distinguished Service Award and changed to the Five Outstanding Young Texan award in 1950. The United States Junior Chamber has since adopted it and is now recognized as the national award, “Ten Outstanding Young Americans” (TOYA). The “Five Outstanding Young Texans” (FOYT) also have the opportunity to be named as a TOYA Honoree.

Sean joins an impressive list of past FOYT honorees including: President George H. W. Bush, Reverend Joel Osteen, CBS News Anchor Dan Rather, Entrepreneur Sam Wyly, Pilot Jeana Yeager, world renowned heart surgeon Dr. Denton Cooley; athletic stars Warren Moon, Martina Navaratilova, Craig Biggio, and Earl Campbell, amongst many others.
