#PhiPsiMovember Set for 2017
Indianapolis, Oct. 1, 2017 – For the third-consecutive year, Phi Kappa Psi is once again partnering with the Movember Foundation for #PhiPsiMovember.
Phi Kappa Psi believes in the power of conversation and education on important men’s health issues through the ELEVATE initiative. During the month of November, we’re whole-heartedly committed to ensuring our members are both empowered and supported in seeking assistance to become the healthiest versions of themselves.
Movember Foundation is a global charity and the only such organization that is tackling men’s health issues on a global scale year-round. Since its inception in 2003, the charity has raised over $700 million dollars worldwide, with over $16 million coming in the United States last year alone. We are a proud supporter of the work they do. Throughout the month of November, we encourage our members to get involved in this cause.
First, participants can grow and groom their moustaches from the start of the month to help raise awareness and funds for men’s health. The moustache can be used to help facilitate and start the conversation about critical issues affecting men. Participants can also do a Move for Movember challenge by setting activity goals and challenges as either an individual or with a group of brothers to promote physical health. Lastly, chapters and colonies can host their own fundraising events using their creativity to contribute to the philanthropic cause. Whichever involvement participants choose, Movember is a fun and unique way to ELEVATE knowledge around men’s health and open up important dialogue about issues that affect our brotherhood.
To this point, the Movember Foundation has funded more than 1,200 programs dedicated to men’s health across 21 countries. In its inaugural year of participation, Phi Kappa Psi was able to raise over $9,000 towards the cause, surpassing that last year by topping its $15,000 goal. This year, we’re dedicated to raising an unprecedented amount of awareness and have set our goal at $20,000. With the right amount of commitment, Phi Kappa Psi can help our members and men around the world address issues with their health, including testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and mental health.
