Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within Phi Kappa Psi

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

In accordance with our Ritual, we, the Brothers of Phi Kappa Psi, welcome all men who share our values to thrive as a member of our Brotherhood.

Since our founding in 1852, Phi Kappa Psi has not used or approved exclusionary language in any of our guiding documents; however, we deeply regret all situations where our inappropriate actions or words have deprived men of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities the opportunity of the lifelong benefits of being a member of Phi Kappa Psi.

We are part of the Fraternity and Sorority experience on more than 100 campuses throughout the United States where our intentions and actions are future focused upon continuous improvement of all aspects of our Brotherhood. We pledge full and continuous compliance with the following Statement of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

OUR VISION

The Brotherhood of Phi Kappa Psi engages men of honor and integrity, who commit to the great joy of serving others, while they strive for academic, spiritual, and moral excellence in addition to enabling each and every Brother to achieve his full potential in life.

OUR MISSION

The Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity attracts, nurtures, and develops the intellect and heart of a diverse group of men who believe our Ritual, believe in the public message of our Creed and share our values through a lifelong experience of friendship, service, continuous improvement and leadership.

OUR VALUES

Diversity is the presence of human differences that includes, but is not limited to, race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomics, language, (dis)abilities, age, sexual orientation, and political perspective. Equity is the sharing of resources, as well as the promotion of justice, impartiality and fairness to allow equal opportunity for all. Inclusion is the outcome where all are welcomed, included, and supported to participate and achieve their full potential.

OUR COMMITMENT TO DEI

The Brotherhood of Phi Kappa Psi is committed to Our Creed and ‘The Great Joy of Serving Others’ both of which are inseparable from our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We believe that we, individually and collectively, are best when diversity and equity are present such that inclusivity is the outcome.

Thus, I (Inclusion) =D (Diversity) +E (Equity)

This fits naturally with our culture of ‘The Great Joy of Serving Others”.
