ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING + CHAPTER COMMUNICATION SERVICES

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Director of Annual Giving + Chapter Communication Services is a full-time position responsible for executing the annual giving programs, which include nationally focused solicitations and organization-wide stewardship initiatives, as well as chapter-based annual communications as part of the Foundation’s Chapter Development Services (CDS) business. The Associate Director develops a coordinated matrix of communications and solicitations involving email, direct mail, social media, phone, personal visitation, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.
The Associate Director has an appreciation for the significance of annual giving and stewardship as the core components of the greater development and campaign goals of the overall organization. Further, the Associate Director will ensure the Foundation is a leader among peer organizations as measured externally in terms of total dollars, percentage of participation, consistency in giving, average gift size, and the quality of internal data; specifically, data cleanliness, accessibility, and timeliness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees 10 – 15 CDS clients, serving as the primary point of contact with client groups, developing communication strategies, proposals, and plans, generating and editing content, including tailored mailings and messages, and maintaining a timely production schedule for each client.
- Oversees and executes the communication deliverables that have been contracted with clients.
- Supports the CDS team and clients in executing contracted services that extend beyond the specific communications deliverables.
- Supports CDS client events through end-to-end coordination, including planning, registration, invitations, event materials, and follow-up communications.
- Maintains relationships with clients by providing support, information, updates, and guidance; monitors and stays abreast of changes in client circumstances and then recommends appropriate improvements to service and outcomes for the client.
- Ensures all communication/outreach materials adhere to brand and design guidelines/standards and reflect the broader organization and client in tone, content, and design.
- Plans, implements, evaluates, and executes the national GivingTuesday challenge program.
- Collaborates with Foundation staff to develop and implement comprehensive stewardship strategies that strengthen and deepen long-term relationships with donors, their spouses, and families. Establishes and maintains consistent, accurate, and meaningful information-sharing processes that support coordinated stewardship, informed donor engagement, and exceptional constituent experiences across the organization.
- Oversees donor recognition activities, including the recognition of donor initiations, birthdays, and anniversaries.
- Supports and collaborates on the organization’s planned giving strategy.
- Supports the broader communications and advancement team through the execution of digital communications, including developing and distributing email campaigns via MailChimp, managing online forms and giving experiences through Raiser’s Edge NXT, and assisting with other digital engagement initiatives that strengthen constituent communication and fundraising efforts.
- Implements giving societies for select audiences.
- Works effectively with the Foundation’s development team to foster strong participation in annual giving at all levels and develop strategies to encourage donors to increase their giving levels.
- Identifies additional opportunities that aid in donor retention, appreciation, and ultimately gift upgrade.
- Participates in Foundation events and functions as appropriate.
INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Senior Director of Annual Giving + Chapter Communication Services. Works closely with all Foundation and Fraternity staff.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Has regular contact with the public, volunteers, clients, and vendors. Is the primary contact for select Chapter Development Services’ communication clients. Will have the opportunity to interface with the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and committees.

- Ability to appropriately and comfortably manage sensitive and confidential high-level donor information.
- Experience in a nonprofit or fundraising organization is a strong advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, only if necessary.
- Willingness and ability to travel, on occasion and only as necessary.

TRAVEL
On occasion, the Associate Director may have the opportunity to travel within the United States to support client events or procure content for communications deliverables and for other Foundation functions.
