REMEMBERING YOUNG BROTHERS

Tragically, and within a matter of months, Phi Psi is grieving the loss of three young men. Not only Timothy, but also Nico and Colin have entered Chapter Eternal. All from different chapters and places in their life journey, but all connected to and supported by their strong band of compassionate brothers.

Nicolas (Nico) Ramos-Estaban

Nicolas (Nico) Ramos-Esteban died on March 7, 2025, after contracting meningitis and battling the severe infection in the hospital for about a week.

Not yet an initiated member of Phi Psi, Nico still made quite an impact on Virginia Alpha. He was known for his kindness, generosity, happy-go-lucky spirit, and dedication to others. The chapter rallied in support of his family and started a GoFundMe page. Andrew Post ’24 collected hundreds of photos from Nico’s friends at UVA, printed and organized them in a binder as a keepsake for his family.

Hundreds of friends, family members, faculty, and students piled into the University of Virginia’s McIntire Ampitheater on the evening of March 19, to remember Nico. Those who knew him best say the first-year student was known for his kindness, his sense of humor, his faith, and a smile they could recognize anywhere.

One by one, Nico’s friends and family took the stage to share their memories of his life. The final speaker, Nico’s father, Jerome, urged the crowd to remember four letters: N, I, C, and O. Soon, the entire amphitheater was chanting Nico’s name.

“He was always excited to be around people,” said Matt Emerson, Nico’s Bible study leader and a member of UVA Campus Outreach. “Always had a huge smile on his face, and I think everybody talked about that.”

A devoted friend, son, and person of faith, Nico is gone too soon but never forgotten. N.I.C.O.

Colin LeMoine Alabama ’23

On Sunday March 23, 2025, Brother Colin LeMoine passed away at the age of 20.

LeMoine

He was a beloved member of Alabama Alpha and is sorely missed. Colin was the model of an excellent brother who could always put a smile on your face. He was there when you needed him most, was always the first to volunteer, and was one of the leading brothers of the chapter.

The following weekend, more than a thousand members of the UA community, family and friends gathered to celebrate Colin’s life. His roommates, close friends, and family spoke about how we were all lucky to know him and have him in our lives.

At the conclusion of the service, the brothers gathered around to sing “Amici” while Colin’s ashes were scattered. Colin’s sudden loss has strengthened the bonds of brotherhood and emphasized the significance of mental health.

In Colin’s memory, Alabama Alpha plans to work with on-campus organizations stressing the importance of mental health and suicide prevention.
