VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
ANDRE HEBERT UL LAFAYETTE ’17
Our volunteers are the heart of what we do. Through their time, energy, and dedication, they help make our mission possible.
In this Volunteer Spotlight, we’re excited to highlight one of the incredible individuals who supports our work. Below, Andre Hebert UL Lafayette ’17, the current chapter advisor for Louisiana Beta, shares a bit about his experience, interests, and what volunteering means to him.
Please tell us about your career or profession.
I am the Finance Manager for the CAJUNDOME, a major entertainment arena and convention center in Lafayette, Louisiana. In my role, I manage the day-to-day finances of a multi-purpose facility. As a venue manager, I am trained to think beyond the numbers and consider every aspect of an event.
How has volunteering helped you live your values?
Volunteering for Louisiana Beta helps me to continue growing my community of brothers. Being able to contribute my time and effort helps strengthen our community and ensures that we continue to support each other both personally and professionally.
What inspires you to volunteer for Phi Kappa Psi and support our members?
My motivation comes from my time as an undergraduate. I developed the strongest imaginable bonds with my chapter brothers, and I want others to have that same experience.
How has your volunteer experience shaped you personally or professionally?
Working with undergraduates in an advisory role has shaped me to work with a variety of different opinions, personalities, and leaders. These skills have helped me to be a better leader and a better professional.
If you could give your college-self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Slow down and enjoy the college experience. Go out with your brothers! Spend time with each other and take advantage of the moments that bring you together. Those bonds and shared experiences will become some of the most meaningful memories long after college ends.
Why is it important for you, personally, to stay involved with Phi Kappa Psi as an alumnus?
It’s important for me to stay involved with Phi Kappa Psi as an alumnus because the Fraternity played a significant role in shaping my college experience and the person I am today. Staying engaged allows me to give back, support current members, and help grow our strong network of Phi Psi’s.
