Maryland Alpha – Johns Hopkins

Submitted By: Benjamin Miller ’22

Maryland Alpha hosted a successful Alumni Weekend, reuniting brothers old and new. The weekend featured our annual Pig Roast and provided a valuable opportunity for alumni to reconnect and reflect on the chapter’s rich history. A special highlight was the return of Brother Michael Bloomberg ’61, whose presence added to the celebratory atmosphere. We hope to carry the momentum from Alumni Weekend over to Phi Psi 500. This fundraising event will focus on supporting the Baltimore Tree Trust along with other charitable causes.

During the week of April 1-5, 2024, the Maryland Delta Chapter hosted their second annual Philanthropy Week to raise money for The Baltimore Station, a residential treatment program supporting veterans transitioning through the cycle of poverty, addiction, and homelessness to self-sufficiency. We held events such as Pie a Phi Psi, tabling about The Baltimore Station, a night out at Nando’s Peri Peri, and to wrap the week up we held our very first Sweetheart competition. We raised just under $1,000 to help homeless veterans in Baltimore.

The Ohio State University Colony

Submitted By: Ryan Saturday

Phi Kappa Psi at Ohio State has experienced over 100% growth in our membership this semester. As a colony, we began this semester with 10 active members and are on track to finish the semester with 21. We have been partnering with a company called Pilot Dogs, which helps train dogs for the blind and visually impaired. We have volunteered there every third Sunday for the entire school year. We assisted them with many odd jobs around their building that required manpower such as replacing tiles, shoveling gravel and making their training pens safe for puppies. We have had a great time helping them with their mission and hope to continue helping them for the foreseeable future.

This semester at Ohio Epsilon we were proud to initiate seven new members into our chapter, increasing our presence on campus. We also brought back the tradition of Day of Dares and concluded that success with Jungle Rumble, raising over $1,500 in a week. Our chapter also had a successful run with intramural softball, finishing as runner-up. Additionally, as a chapter, we are honored to be nominated to help exhibit our Ritual excellence at GAC. With that, we hope to return even stronger next semester!

Ohio Pi – Denison

Spring semester, our chapter proudly collaborated with the Denison Outdoors Club to organize a campus cleanup day. This effort not only beautified our campus, but also underscored our commitment to environmental stewardship and community service. The highlight of spring semester was the Second Annual Phi Psi Music Fest. This event showcased a variety of campus bands, including a special performance by Phi Psi alumnus Parker Bailey ’20, with his band, Runner and Bobby. The Music Fest is more than just a celebration of music; it’s an opportunity for alumni and current brothers to reconnect and strengthen their bonds. All proceeds from the event supported the Boys & Girls Club of Newark. In our ongoing efforts to support the professional development of our members, we are excited to announce the launch of a career and internship program. This initiative aims to connect current brothers with alumni across various industries, providing valuable networking opportunities, mentorship and guidance.

Our chapter has enjoyed a bountiful semester, filled with impressive achievements across multiple fronts. Our chapter had five brothers dance 46 hours consecutively for the cause while the entire brotherhood supported them from the stands of the Bryce Jordan Center. Phi Kappa Psi along with our sorority pairing, Alpha Omicron Pi, raised over $340,000 in hopes of eliminating childhood cancer. It was an incredible weekend that could only be exceeded by Penn State THON 2025!

Late in the spring, West Virginia Alpha hosted our annual Queens of the Beach volleyball tournament, using our chapter house’s sand volleyball court. The brotherhood reached out to campus sororities and club organizations to participate in the tournament where all proceeds would benefit The Boys & Girls Clubs of America. An estimated 80 brothers were there to cheer on the competing teams, with about 175-200 people total in attendance. This event raised $1,500, and we are hoping to expand upon this year’s success in the future.
