Alabama Alpha – Alabama

This semester has been one of the strongest, marked by clear growth, stronger brotherhood, and a renewed commitment to our core values. We set ambitious goals, and it has been encouraging to see brothers rise to meet them. One major accomplishment was initiating one of the largest and most engaged groups we’ve ever brought in. Their involvement has added energy and momentum to everything we’ve done. We also made a significant impact through campus involvement, highlighted by securing 3,800 signed Hunter’s Pledge cards. This reflects not only our work ethic, but also our ability to stay organized and represent the chapter well. Brotherhood events strengthened connections, allowing younger members to feel welcomed and older members to step up as leaders.

This recruitment season was crucial to our chapter as numbers were getting low. We were able to successfully recruit 13 new members who are already making an impact within the chapter. One example of this was at our annual Beefin’ With Poverty philanthropy event, where almost the whole event — besides cooking — was run by our new members. We also focused on making better connections with our alumni by hosting events where bonds can be formed between actives and alumni. Finally, at this year’s Greek Life Awards, our chapter was awarded the Most Philanthropic Chapter.

This semester, we initiated our newest pledge class, Gamma Eta. Through tailgates, Phi Psi Fridays, intramurals, and other events, we bonded and had plenty of fun. Not only did we host multiple chapters, but several of us also had the privilege to visit other chapters around the South and establish connections there. We raised more than $1,000 for philanthropic organizations like Light the Night and Dance Marathon. As our main philanthropy event approached, we worked to raise even more money for the Collegiate Veterans Association. Our hard work regarding milestones and overall contribution to the FSU IFC community enabled us to apply for chapter of the year. Florida Alpha is committed to carrying the momentum forward.

Our chapter did well all of 2025, continuing record recruitment since COVID-19. We were able to make significant progress toward funding a house on campus and improving our philanthropic efforts. We raised more than $2,000 toward various charitable causes and improved our alumni connections. Going into 2026, we are taking notes on what went well and what did not to keep the progress as steady as possible.

During the fall 2025 semester, we stepped up our philanthropy efforts, partnering with sorority events such as Greek Sing, Mr. University of Kentucky, Bring It On and Paint Wars. Many of these events involved brothers competing for a stab at campus and Greek life glory while raising charitable donations. Efforts from Brother Ashton Ward ‘25 improved our chapter’s community involvement. First joint philanthropy with Phi Sig and Pi Kap raised more than $26,000 for Kentucky Special Olympics. Brothers participated in Bring It On, a dance team competition, with G Phi. In our first initiation after chartering, we picked up a very dedicated class.

We held a successful philanthropy event with Keep Tiger Town Beautiful, where more than 40 brothers helped clean up trash around the surrounding areas of Baton Rouge. Brothers enjoyed chapter night out at a Pelicans basketball game and an end-of-semester semi-formal event where the brothers celebrated the Rose Court. The brothers also completed a successful season of intramural flag football, ultimately winning the championship.

This fall semester, we continued our momentum in recruitment, service and campus involvement. Both initiated brothers and new member candidates actively engaged community service efforts, including coaching youth sports for the Oxford Park Commission, preparing and distributing food through the UMatter Greek Food Distribution Program, assisting with operations of community events such as the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church pumpkin patch, the Regents Academy Fall Festival, the Oxford Homecoming Community Tailgate, and the Monster’s Ball, supporting LeBonheur Kids of North Mississippi. Brothers served meals at the More Than a Meal program and prepared take-home food packages for K-12 families through the LovePacks program. The chapter also maintained strong campus involvement, fielding multiple competitive intramural teams while numerous members earned notable achievements through academic organizations.

We are proud to celebrate our recent accomplishments. Most notably, we transitioned from a colony to a fully chartered chapter, marking a historic milestone for our brotherhood in just over one year. To commemorate this achievement, we hosted a two-day celebration in which our entire brotherhood was formally initiated, followed by a banquet attended by more than 200 guests, including family, friends, brothers, girlfriends, alumni, and representatives from the National HQ. We are excited to see our strong growth and solid foundations continue to have a positive impact.

A lot of brothers played an integral role in Vanderbilt football’s 7-2 start. Brock Taylor ‘25 was awarded SEC Special Teams Player of the Week. During fall recruitment, nine new brothers were initiated into the chapter on Oct. 15. They include a number of transfers — two of them play football, and one is on the tennis team. They will be great additions.

The brothers had a great time participating in Homecoming Week this semester. In partnership with Alpha Gamma Delta, we collected more than 3,000 cans for the university’s food drive. Brothers came together to build a float, design a banner and choreograph a dance while competing in numerous sporting events, including taking home first place in sand volleyball. This experience increased our connections with the community and other Greek life organizations on campus.

On Oct. 18, Alumni Chair Wylie Brunman ’24 and the Montalto Board organized a fantastic alumni tailgate before the UVA vs. Washington St. football game. We had a range of alums from the 1970s to today, including 23 of 25 men from the most recently graduated PC ’22. On Nov. 7, we gathered at UVA’s University Chapel to celebrate the would-be 20th birthday of our late friend Nicolas Ramos-Esteban. A Panamanian flag proudly hangs at the top of our house, reminding us every day to live life how Nico did. We are excited to recruit a new class of young men in January.

We initiated 24 members this fall, a success that set the tone for a great fall semester. We continued serving the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Big Brothers Big Sisters. These events included helping to run a golf tournament, raising money for families around the Harrisonburg area. Our philanthropy week consisted of events aimed at raising money for the Boys & Girls Clubs. We hold the third-highest IFC GPA on campus and are well above the all-men’s GPA average.
